It has been an incredibly busy, rewarding, and transformative year — both for our team and for the hundreds of travellers and client managers who now rely on SONAR every day. Over the past twelve months, SONAR has moved from concept to daily operational tool, supporting missions across Africa, Asia, and Ukraine, and adapting continually as real-world travel patterns and client needs have shaped its evolution. What began as a digital framework has developed into an integrated service — combining technology, human expertise, and proactive risk monitoring to help organisations operate with confidence in challenging environments. This first year has not only demonstrated the value of SONAR in the field but has also laid a strong foundation for the next phase of growth, innovation, and deeper client engagement.

Launching a new product is never a simple task: While development is a major milestone, the real work begins when it reaches the hands of users. Over the past year, our focus has been on onboarding clients, supporting their teams, monitoring travel in real time, and continually strengthening the platform based on how it performs in the field. And what a year it’s been

What We’ve Achieved Together

To date, almost 900 users have joined SONAR, and together they have completed more than 650 trips across medium- and high-risk environments. Behind these numbers lie thousands of touchpoints where SONAR has supported safer, more informed travel. Our Regional Security Advisors (RSAs) have provided reassurance, advice, and dedicated monitoring whenever needed, They have delivered hundreds of online and in-person travel briefings and checked and actioned thousands of traveller check-ins. This level of engagement has shaped SONAR into the platform it is today — not static, but evolving, responsive, and built around real operational needs

Listening, Learning, Improving

From day one, feedback has been central to SONAR’s development. Throughout the year, we’ve spoken with travellers, client managers, and operational teams, gathering insight into what works, what could work better, and what new features would make the biggest difference. Many of the changes introduced this year have been small but significant — the kind of refinements that make a system feel more intuitive, more supportive, and more aligned with real-world travel patterns

But one principle has guided every decision: Travellers should feel informed, aware of their surroundings, and confident that support is available the moment they need it ‘ An RSA in their pocket‘. Likewise, client managers should feel assured that SONA provides the level of duty of care necessary to keep their people safe.

What’s Next?

As we move into year two, SONAR will continue to grow — with new features, expanded capabilities, and deeper integration across projects. Our pricing model has also evolved over the past year, becoming far more flexible and attractive for organisations of different sizes and needs.
